A standoff between Las Vegas police and a barricaded suspect with a hostage at Caesars Palace Hotel ended Tuesday afternoon with the suspect in custody. The standoff began at around 9:15 a.m.. This is when police received a report of a possible situation on the south side of the resort. When officers went to the room, a male inside said he was armed and refused to come out.
SWAT and crisis negotiators responded to the scene. A woman was believed to have been pulled into the room by the suspect. A shattered room window with objects occasionally being thrown outside including furniture and papers was seen by FOX5. This video was taken from outside of the building. The pool below was evacuated.
A person appeared in the window frame of Caesars Palace wearing a hat, shirt, and shorts and appeared to be yelling.
The standoff ended at around 3 p.m. local time when SWAT officers entered the Caesars Palace hotel room and took the male subject into custody. The woman was also taken into custody and was unharmed. Las Vegas Police have not released the names of the suspect or the woman, and they have not said what led to the standoff.
