Happy New Year BONDI! It’s a pleasure to have you talking with us here with us today at Only Techno. How are you today and where are you answering this interview from?

Thank you for the chat. I’m fabulous despite the grey winter weather here in Berlin. Happy New Year to you too≥

Please can you introduce yourself for our readers who may not necessarily know you?

My name is Daniel, mainly known for my electronic live project BONDI. I’m a live act & producer from Berlin and do house music combined with indie electronic. Usually collaborating with different singer songwriters.

Describe your sound in 3 words.

Hypnotic, electrified, emo.

Congratulations on the release of your recent single, ‘Crystallized’. What has the initial reception been like?

Thank you, it’s been amazing. It’s a single from my upcoming album and was written at the beginning of 2022 where I spend a lot of time exploring and creating stuff in my studio in Berlin. I used everything I had laying around me like bass guitars, synths, percussion and loads of pedals to create soundscapes and chop it all up again. It feels like I found myself again with this song and ‘m so happy that people love it too 🙂

What was it like collaborating with Save The Kid on this record?

Just amazing, I’m so lucky that I got to know him by coincidence. He was visiting a friend in his studio who showed him around mixing. When I arrived Save was about to leave. I played the demo and he just started to sum a beautiful melody in the entrance hallway. He had to get back and we immediately recorded the idea. After some days of lyric writing we did a proper recording session and the song was done. Everything went so well that we also collaborated on another song too (In My Mind).

Who or what were your biggest musical influences and inspirations growing up?

When I was a kid I didn’t had a big musical connection, it evolved later in my late teen years. It started with electro like Benny Benassi, Indie music from Metronomy, Phoenix or Hot Chip and eventually some Berlin underground house and minimal music. Since I’m 16 I’ve been always fascinated with the art of djing.

Where are some of your favourite places to hang out in the Berlin?

I like the winter days when the city gets a little break, because lots of people are visiting their families in their hometowns. I love the calmness and usually try to spend every free minute in the studio around that time of the year.

If you could collaborate with any artist in the scene right now, who would it be?

It would be either WhoMadeWho, Jimi Jules or Frank Wiedemann. Amazing people and incredible musicians!

Top 3 favourite records you love to play at the moment?

Howling – Lover (Jimi Jules Electro Remix)
Ivory (IT) – Try
Bondi, Save The Kid – Crystallized 😉

Can you tell us about some of your favourite non-electronic music artists?

Most of them actually have some kind of electronic influence in their music. I love the mix between genres like singer / songwriter and house or Indie. To name a few artists who actually have kinda none-electronic roots, still being a big inspiration: Parcels, Rhye, Tycho, José González, Massive Attack, Radiohead […]

What have you got planned for 2023?

A lot of singles have been released in 2022, but the actual release of my debut album on JUNA POLY will be in February 2023. Following with a lot of remix singles the year is already quite busy, I can’t wait to work on it!

Any final words for our Only Techno readers?

Take care of each other and hope to see you soon!

Thanks BONDI!

Thank you guys, was a pleasure!
