Electronic music publisher Disco Pogo has officially announced A Disco Pogo Tribute To Andrew Weatherall, a definitive 320-page hardback volume dedicated to the life and enduring influence of the legendary DJ and producer. This release marks the fourth installment in the publisher's acclaimed Tribute series, following previous editions focused on Daft Punk, Aphex Twin, and LCD Soundsystem.
The upcoming book serves as a spiritual successor to the highly sought-after Jockey Slut Tribute To Andrew Weatherall, which was released in 2020 and has since become a rare collector's item. This new edition not only preserves the essential content from the original publication but expands significantly upon it, offering over 200 pages of entirely new material. Readers can expect a deep dive into Weatherall’s career through fresh essays, oral histories, exclusive interviews, and rare photography contributed by the artists, producers, and friends who knew him best.
Crucially, the project has been developed with the full support and cooperation of the Weatherall estate, ensuring an authentic and respectful celebration of his legacy. A portion of the profits from the book will be directed back to the estate.
The editorial scope is vast, covering pivotal moments in Weatherall’s discography and career. Highlights include an in-depth interview with Bobby Gillespie that moves beyond the well-trodden ground of Screamadelica, as well as critical examinations of his work on Sabresonic, Haunted Dancehall, and his contributions as part of Two Lone Swordsmen. The book also explores his NTS radio shows, his artistic endeavors, and his influential projects like A Love From Outer Space and Convenanza.
Beyond the narrative content, the book features contributions from a wide array of industry figures, including Keith Tenniswood, David Holmes, Leftfield, Shaun Ryder, The Chemical Brothers, Beth Orton, Irvine Welsh, and Daniel Avery. The volume is rounded out by standard Disco Pogo features, including a detailed timeline, family tree, studio gear analysis, and a comprehensive discography.
A Disco Pogo Tribute To Andrew Weatherall is available for pre-order now and is scheduled to ship on July 15th.
