Skyline Festival 2023 was an event to remember, not just for the amazing house and techno music, but also for the weather that came with it. Despite the historic storm that hit Los Angeles during the festival, Insomniac Events proved that the show must go on. The company went above and beyond to ensure that the festival was not canceled. In the process, they even provided free ponchos and plastic flooring to keep ravers safe and dry.
On the first day, the weather was not in anyone’s favor. This, however, proved to be a bonding experience for the Southern California attendees. Additionally, Insomniac had to delay the start of the festival, update set times, and even close one of the stages until the evening. Despite these obstacles, the festival prevailed and provided an incredible lineup of techno and house superstars. This included acts such as Michael Bibi, Peggy Gou, MEDUZA, and Dom Dolla. Additionally, Eli & Fur, and ANOTR also brought the heat. Similarly, it should be noted that the special SKREAM B2B Dennis Ferrer brought the house down. Quite the perfect set to listen to amidst the pouring rain.
The second day brought better luck as the rain stopped and the sun came out. The festival ran smoothly, and the lineup was stacked with Shiba San b2b Solardo, J. Worra b2b Miane, Charlotte de Witte, and Diplo. The festival-goers were able to dance the night away without any interruption. Additionally, Joseph Capriati and Sohmi were two of the artists I enjoyed for the first time. Having said that, they are two artists that I look forward to seeing again!
Raving in the rain brought the crowd closer together, Skyline was dealt a poor hand, but Insomniac played its cards well. Despite the weather conditions, the crowd at Insomniac’s Skyline House & Techno Festival in Los Angeles demonstrated an admirable amount of perseverance and camaraderie. Attendees came together to dance in the rain, bonded over the shared experience of the storm, and helped each other navigate the muddy dance floors.
The festival-goers were incredibly kind to one another, sharing ponchos and offering a helping hand to those struggling in the muck. Even with the rain and mud, the music was exceptional, with sets from dance music superstars Bibi, Gou, MEDUZA, Dom Dolla, Shiba San b2b Solardo, J. Worra b2b Miane, Charlotte de Witte, and Diplo providing the perfect soundtrack for a truly unforgettable festival experience.
Firstly, despite the challenges faced by the weather, the festival was a resounding success. This was mostly due thanks in large part to the perseverance and good spirits of the crowd. Secondly, with Insomniac’s proven track record and dedicated fanbase, we can expect to see more exceptional festivals in the future.
