Adding a next milestone song to his widely praised production qualities, Italian hit producer Gabry Ponte joins forces with with Dutch rising star R3SPAWN and legendary dance act Delerium to revamp the latter’s huge 90’s trance classic “Silence.” Together, the guys rebuild this indestructible tune stone by stone, setting off with punchy, uptempo kicks and overwhelming acid sounds, firmly reminiscing the famous Tiësto edit from back in the day – now ready for a brand new triumphal path, as it drops on his own Musical Freedom label.
“Silence” goes full circle, you might say. Originally an ambient tinged hit by Delerium, incorporating the impassioned vocals of fellow Canadian singer Sarah McLachlan, the record turned into a classic when Tiësto delivered his In Search Of Sunrise Edit in the late 90’s. Featuring warm synth chords and an infectious groove, the tune became a key record for the burgeoning trance scene, meanwhile marking the rise to international fame for Tiësto. Since then, “Silence” remained in the collective minds of all dance generations that followed, still getting played by DJ’s up to this day. This includes Tiësto, which makes it not surprising to see him pick up a brand new remix for his Musical Freedom label.
It’s not the least delivering this new remix, as Gabry Ponte is known to raise the bar, having built an impressive resume from his 90’s band Eiffel 65 to recent hits “Monster,” followed by two more hit collabs with LUM!X in the shape of 2020’s “The Passenger” (with D.T.E.) and last year’s “Thunder” (along with Prezioso). This time he joins forces with Dutch rising talent R3SPAWN, known for his high-energy productions, including 2021’s hit “Beat Of My Heart” and collabs with Timmy Trumpet, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Bassjackers and Gabry Ponte.
“Silence” sees the guys unleash a furious beat, sturdy and uptempo, characterized by vintage punchy kicks and a thrilling, pulsating bass line. Along with growling acid bleeps, you’ll get a true oldschool feel, enhanced with those timeless vocals. Instead of warm trance melodies, though, the production dives deeper into hard dance vibes this time, letting the breakdown pave the way for a huge, rave styled drop. Gabry Ponte and R3SPAWN don’t hide their intentions here. This remix is aimed directly at the dance floor, ready to spark nostalgia among the festival crowds while delivering a hefty dose of 2023 energy, making anyone defenseless when this tune hits the mainstage. “Silence” proves itself unbreakable again, should be quite a moment when Tiësto unleashes this brand new weapon.
