A Postponed Festival Tries To Cover Up Lack of Permits With COVID-19

Purpose Driven Events is stated to have provided a false reason for the Blue Ridge Country Festival’s cancellation. According to the Star-Tribune, they confirm regulations and COVID-19 had nothing to do with their decision to postpone the event.

Purpose Driven Events sent an email to ticket holders on Monday, disclosing the festival’s postponement. The statement states:

“At the request of health officials, Blue Ridge Country Festival slated for Oct. 1-3, 2021, will be postponed to May 13-15, 2022, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”

Although the organizers state the postponement is due to the ongoing pandemic, Pittsylvania-Danville officials denied even suggesting the event be canceled.

“VDH did not cancel the Blue Ridge Country Festival, nor did VDH request that the promoters do so,” VDH public information officer Robert Parker told the Star-Tribune.

A letter was sent to Purpose Driven Events CEO Johnathon Style, showing the event was canceled due to no permits and noncompliance with county regulations. You can view the letter here.

Blue Ridge Country Festival was set to take place on Friday. Artists such as Toby Keith, Darius Rucker, and Jake Owen were set to perform.
