Loome Turns Inward on New Single ‘The Shakedown’

Suffolk alt-pop riser Loome returns with ‘The Shakedown’, a sharp and self-reflective new single lifted from his forthcoming sophomore album 'YOUFORIA,' due 22nd May. It’s a confident step forward for the solo project of Tomas Frankson, refining the indie-leaning pop sound that has steadily earned him national attention over the past year.

Following the release of debut album ASTROHEARTS in 2025, Loome’s momentum has been hard to ignore. He landed on BBC Introducing’s Sound of 2023 list, picked up his first BBC Radio 1 plays via Future Pop, appeared at Latitude Festival, and sold out a run of headline shows, all while remaining fiercely DIY.

Produced with Jason La Rocca - whose credits span Cyberpunk 2077, God of War, Venom and The Flash - The Shakedown is Loome’s most polished and direct release to date. A distortion-flecked beat sets the track in motion before pulsing synths and restrained, magnetic vocals take control. As the song unfolds, rising melodies and fuzzy guitars collide in a hook-heavy chorus that balances indie grit with pop clarity.

Lyrically, it’s a candid confrontation with inner conflict. “The only rival I have is myself,” Frankson explains, framing the track as a battle between ambition and apathy, confidence and self-sabotage.

Written, performed and engineered entirely in his one-room home studio, 'The Shakedown' captures Loome at his most focused yet, a self-made artist sharpening his sound and readying himself for a bigger stage.
