Genre-defying artist and global music nomad Lil Wolf has dropped his new EP, Nomad Tapes: Africa, a seven-track body of work that embodies the spirit of collaboration, cultural immersion, and emotional truth. Written and recorded entirely during his travels across Africa, the project channels the continent’s rhythms, voices, and energy into a genre-fluid document of lived experience.
The EP’s standout single, “Undone,” sets the tone. Built on an insistent Afro-house groove, it layers ghostly synth textures and mantra-like vocals over a relentless low-end pulse. The lyrics cut to the core of Lil Wolf’s ethos: liberation comes only when we confront the shadows within ourselves. The track has already struck a chord with listeners, its dark, pulsing soundscape serving as both dance-floor reckoning and inner meditation.
Throughout Nomad Tapes: Africa, Wolf leans on collaboration as both method and message. On “Kukude,” he partners with the world-renowned Thanda Choir, their soaring harmonies pushing his electronic textures into spiritual territory. Meanwhile, his work with Onset Music Group across “Illusions,” “Harmony,” and “Ithemba” embodies the cross-cultural dialogue that defines the project: African-rooted artistry woven seamlessly into his evolving global sound.
Lil Wolf’s journey into this new chapter is built on decades of craft. Originally from Canada and now based in Los Angeles, he is a Juno Award–winning producer with more than 20 albums and a long list of film and video game credits. His decision to launch the Lil Wolf project marked a shift from production to presence, chasing something rawer, more vulnerable, and ultimately more human. His earlier EP, Relationships 1.0, hinted at this evolution, with “Love Me Harder” crossing 870,000 views on YouTube and cementing his ability to resonate far beyond borders.
Yet Wolf refuses to stand still. Just as Nomad Tapes: Africa finds its footing, he’s already plotting his next creative stops in Bali, Vietnam, and Berlin—each a chance to meet new artists, absorb new rhythms, and translate fresh experiences into sound. It’s a path less traveled, one that recalls the spirit of Anthony Bourdain: moving through the world with open ears and open heart, guided by curiosity and community.
Nomad Tapes: Africa is available on streaming platforms now.
