Brooklyn-based producer & visual artist Esseks teamed up with New Jersey-based Dj/producer duo Shanghai Doom on their new collaborative 2-track experimental bass EP, ‘Soul Stone,’ which is out via Liquid Stranger‘sWAKAAN Records today!
Esseks is a Brooklyn-based producer and visual artist whose music ranges all the bass-centric genres with a focus on the off-kilter. All of his work, both musically and visually, is tied together by his subtle but instantly recognizable sound/aesthetic which is dark but playful – “Cartoon Villain music” as he would say. Some of his most popular songs include “Professor Genius” and “Won’t Stop,” both with frequent collaborator Space Jesus.
Known for songs like “Contact” and “Invasion,”Shanghai Doom is a producer duo hailing from the humid urban streets of Central Jersey. These “lizard men,” as fans refer to them, combine ripping mechanized audio files with mind-blowingly exquisite sub frequencies. In 2018, they sent a flash drive with their SoundCloud spotlight tracks to a distant planet suspected to have extraterrestrial life forms inhabiting it. They patiently wait for their overlords to return the message, however some conspiracy theorists state that they are actually the overlords themselves, sent through a vortex time warp to share the exotic sounds of an alien race.
The Soul Stone EP consists of two experimental bass tracks that will have you looking forward to festivals sometime soon. We have the good fortune of premiering its second offering, “Infinite Energy.”
