Rising Artist Frigid Bridges UK Bass and Rap on New EP “No Hibernation”

Frigid has officially unveiled his latest project, a two-track EP titled No Hibernation. The release serves as a definitive statement of intent, showcasing the producer's ability to navigate the intersection of bass-heavy sound design and the gritty, lyrical landscape of the UK rap underground. By enlisting heavyweights like Grim Sickers and Rakjay, Frigid has crafted a project that feels both expansive and intensely focused.

A Fusion of Bass and Grime

The EP opens with “Cost Of Living,” a collaboration with Grim Sickers that establishes a dubstep-leaning foundation. The production is spacious yet heavy, providing the perfect backdrop for Sickers’ grounded, sharp-witted lyricism regarding survival and the modern economic climate. The track successfully blends elements of grime, trap, and lo-fi textures without ever feeling cluttered.

The title track, featuring Rakjay, pushes the intensity even further. Rakjay delivers a commanding performance that highlights his lyrical prowess, while Frigid anchors the track with a robust UK bass backbone. The result is a high-energy experience that maintains its momentum from the first beat to the last.

A Journey of Purpose

Frigid’s path to this 2-track EP is as compelling as the music itself. Born in Montreal to Kabyle immigrant parents and raised near Vancouver, he initially established himself as a vital curator and connector within the industry. He played a key role in bringing artists such as TroyBoi, QUIX, and Tsuruda to Canadian audiences before fully committing to his own path as a producer and DJ.

Following the loss of both parents at the age of 20, Frigid channeled his grief into his craft, finding a renewed sense of purpose that now permeates his work. This dedication is evident in his current trajectory, which includes hosting his Ice Box Sessions residency on Subtle Radio and fostering deep connections with the UK music scene.

As he continues to act as a bridge between diverse electronic and hip-hop scenes, Frigid is positioning himself as an artist to watch throughout the year. No Hibernation is available now on all major streaming platforms, and it is a project that demands to be heard at high volume.
