Nazareth Hassan Explores Love’s Dark Addictions on Stirring Debut EP ’emophilia’

Nazareth Hassan’s debut EP, 'emophilia,' is a sonic deep dive into the messy, magnetic allure of emotional addiction.

The project channels the chaos of longing and attachment into a hypnotic fusion of glitchy neo-soul and haunting digital choral harmonies.

Through standout tracks like 'ancient weather,' Hassan crafts a vivid portrait of love’s toxic push and pull, blending minimal breakbeats and layered electronic textures with anthemic vocals that teeter between heartbreak and self-realization. The result is an arresting soundscape—both fractured and beautiful—that captures the paradox of connection as both remedy and ruin.

Atlanta-born and creatively multifaceted, Hassan brings a wealth of artistic experience to the EP. Their work spans writing, directing, composing, and live performance, with past showcases at The Shed in NYC and Berlin’s Theatertreffen Stückemarkt. On 'emophilia,' they channel influences as diverse as Tirzah, Burial, and D’Angelo, building a genre-fluid masterpiece that feels intimate yet expansive.

'emophilia' marks a significant milestone for Hassan as an artist. But they’re not slowing down. Their next EP, 'SECURITY THEATER_live at Judson Church,' drops December 6, offering an ambient exploration of surveillance culture. With Slow Mania, a poetry and photography collection, and a theatrical debut in 2025, Hassan is poised to cement their reputation as a fearless voice in experimental art and music.

For now, 'emophilia' stands as a resonant, achingly honest ode to the complexities of human connection.
