Mya K has released a heady new single just as intoxicating as the love she sings of on it.
The British-Nigerian artist once again teams up with her go-to producer, VELLI, on the new track, as well as also working with SAIONTHEBEAT.
A sultry blend of R&B, afrobeats and amapiano, on 'Effect', Mya sings of the hold her love interest has over her; an addiction too strong to fight.
Showcasing her natural storytelling abilities, Mya begins by addressing herself: "Told myself I wouldn't come back here / Here we are again" before addressing her lover, letting them know how futile her resistance to their allure was, when they hold such a power over her: "I can't stay away / Just one call away from coming through... You got me drunk on you".
On the second verse, Mya ponders what exactly it is that captivates her, before submitting to the unknown, choosing instead to be led by her heart.
"This is my submission for ‘song of the summer’ and I may be biased, but I think 'Effect' wins’, Mya commented.
