Following up his mau5trap debut single, Lamorn returns with a 2-track composition on the label, including the singles ‘Lonely Light‘ featuring Molly Otto and ‘Ping‘. Hailed by deadmau5 as his protégé, it’s easy to see why the artist is a no-brainer to sign onto the label given the output.
Kicking off, the two tracks start with ‘Lonely Light’ featuring Molly Otto, bolstering a lush soundscape that envelops us. Moreover, the vocals drive part of the melody as the pianos and pluck carry the mood and movement, carrying toward a hypnotizing build. From there, the bridge truly sustains a very individual identity through the careful mix of kicks, starry pads, and vocal chop. Throughout, the build keeps us moving through a beautiful combination of melodies and percussive elements. This will definitely be interesting to listen to within the context of a live performance.
On the other hand, ‘Ping’ proceeds with a calm attitude, imbued with a ton of funky instrumental elements that make it stand out. In a particular way, it evokes Madeon’s album, Adventure, in terms of hooking elements converging with rhythm. Nonetheless, it clearly draws inspiration from way back when, while filtering through current sonic design and structure.
Lastly, listen to Lamorn present more of his talents through the release of a 2-track project on mau5trap titled Lonely Light.
