Jalapeno Records is celebrating a quarter-century of bringing the funk with 'Twenty Five,' a sprawling 3LP anniversary compilation set to arrive in November. Showcasing the label’s signature blend of soul, disco, breaks, and groove-rich electronica, the collection gathers classics and deep cuts from an artist roster responsible for over 100 million streams to date.
Leading the release is a reissue of one of Jalapeno’s most beloved tracks: Kraak & Smaak’s 'Stumble,' featuring Australian indie-electronic band Parcels. First recorded just before Parcels’ global breakthrough, the collaboration has long been a fan favourite, an effervescent slice of timeless indie-pop that marries the Dutch trio’s warm, organic-electronic production with Parcels’ unmistakable harmonies. “It ticked all the boxes,” say Kraak & Smaak. “Not only one of our favourites, but a song that reached far beyond our usual fanbase.”
'Twenty Five' digs deep into the label’s history, featuring contributions from Smoove & Turrell, The Allergies, Gizelle Smith, Flevans, ephemerals, Dr. Rubberfunk, Dimitri From Paris, Hot Toddy, Purple Disco Machine, and many more—spanning everything from retro-futurist funk workouts to soulful floor-fillers.
Founded in a Holloway Road basement and now rooted in Brighton, Jalapeno Records has spent 25 years championing groove-led music across genres. “Funk is impossible to define,” says founder Trevor Mac, “but you know it when you feel it.”
With anniversary celebrations rolling through 2026 - including a stage takeover tour following their riotous Pikes Ibiza party - Jalapeno are letting us know that funk is a forever thing.
