Emre Türkmen and Mikey Goldsworthy - founding members of multi-platinum pop outfit Years & Years - have announced the debut single from their new project, Human Family. Titled ‘Loverr’, the track signals the start of an ambitious new era for the duo following their departure from the band in 2021.
‘Loverr’ began life as a remix of ‘Alien’, a track written with Eliza, before evolving into something more direct and dancefloor-ready. Built around the chopped refrain “But I wanna be your lover,” the single leans fully into euphoria: pulsing electronics, emotional vocal hooks and a polished, alternative-pop sheen. It’s immediate, high-energy and clearly designed for late-night catharsis.
For Türkmen and Goldsworthy, Human Family represents both reinvention and reclamation. After a decade that included a UK No.1 with ‘King’, a BRIT Critics’ Choice nomination and one of the fastest-selling debut albums of 2015, the pair say they’re now focused on creative autonomy and collaboration on their own terms.
With further singles lined up and an EP planned for later in 2026, Human Family positions itself as a fresh, collaborative electronic venture 0 one rooted less in chasing hits and more in building connection through feeling.
