The 2021 edition of the Escapade Music Festival was a total success. The two-day event had The Chainsmokers, Jauz, Steve Aoki, Illenium, and Zomboy as some of their headliners. Escapade took place on September 4th and 5th, being one the biggest festivals in Canada.
Obviously, with the pandemic slowly fading in the country, Escapade was the perfect opportunity to see if festivals can come back safely in Canada. Organizers demanded that all attendees had to be fully vaccinated before entry. I can attest that they made sure of it. Contrary to belief, this did not affect the wait time in lines nor the enjoyability of the event itself.
Because of the safety protocols in place, Escapade took place at the Ottawa Baseball Stadium. From what I heard, attendees really appreciated the arrangement of the stages. The fact that you could sit in the stadium’s seats for a quick little break between sets was pretty cool too.
On the first day, the sun shined for hours, until darkness came to cool down the temperature and a bit. For me, the most notables performances were from Return of the Jaded and Jauz. Both of them brought the heat and made the attendees bounce around for their whole set.
On Sunday, the initial forecast was rain. However, it did not rain at all; the sun even peaked right for Illenium‘s performance, which blew everyone’s minds once again, but with a special time set – 4:45 PM to 6:00 PM – before heading off to Electric Zoo, where he closed off the mainstage. I also got to give Dr. Fresch and Herobust a big hat tip for their amazing sets at the Bass stage.
All in all, a complete success for Escapade Music Festival. Apparently, next year’s edition is going to be one of the biggest – if not the biggest – yet. I can’t wait to see what they have in store.
