Elon Musk is a man of many hats. The founder several companies of varying successes (Tesla, SpaceX, and SolarCity) has a cult following amongst day-traders and brogrammers. Some see him as a visionary, as a man who is changing the world. And on top of all of that, he is also creating music.
In 2020, he self-produced a track called ‘Don’t Doubt Your Vibe’. He is using this track as the background song for his new Tesla commercial, featuring the Y and 3 models. The reel, on Instagram, features his progressive house track with the headlights of the vehicles blinking in inventive patterns.
The video was produced by Tesla’s team in China. They taught the cars to coordinate their lights to the song. It’s not quite Vintage Culture, but we can still appreciate the message and the beat for what it is.
And while we are certainly going through an electric vehicle revolution, it is important to remember that the resources that go in to making these new vehicles still create a significant footprint. Yes, as a driver you personally aren’t adding to the petroleum in the air when you commute to and from the office and the grocery store. However, it is important to remember that these cars utilize precious cobalt from Sub-saharan Africa and have a larger carbon footprint upfront. So be sure to do your research, as buying used gasoline vehicles can often be the greener option.
