Corsican-born, Paris-based indie-pop outfit Casablanca Drivers return with ‘X-Ray’, a pulsing new single released via Arts & Crafts México and Mattan Records. The track marks the fourth preview of their forthcoming album 'Protocol,' due 24th April.
Led by Nicolas Paoletti and Alexandre Diani, the band lean into a sleek, retro-futurist aesthetic on ‘X-Ray’, fusing garage guitars with dancefloor-ready basslines and taut electronic textures. The result evokes what the band describe as a “late-’80s night out in a dead city” - a tense, nocturnal groove that builds from tightly wound verses into acid-tinged choruses.
Production comes from NIT, known for work with Sébastien Tellier and Cola Boyy, while mixing duties fall to Ash Workman, whose credits include Metronomy and Baxter Dury. The combination sharpens the band's sound into something both club-ready and guitar-driven.
Visually, the single continues the band’s collaboration with renowned French artist and director Alex Courtès, known for his long association with Daft Punk as well as work with Air and Cassius.
‘X-Ray’ follows earlier singles ‘Easy’, ‘Plastic’ and ‘Garage’, each hinting at a record that pulls from early-2000s electro-clash while nodding to modern indie-pop. Since their 2020 debut Super Adventure Club, Casablanca Drivers have steadily expanded their sonic palette - a shift that places Protocol firmly between the glossy indie of Phoenix and the psychedelic pop sweep of Tame Impala.
Keep an eye out for their European tour - currently in development.
