Adding more authenticity to the BeReal experience, Spotify has teamed up with the social media platform to offer in-the-moment listening updates. This collaboration aims to help users connect with like-minded individuals who share similar interests in music.
Spotify has revealed that it will now integrate with BeReal, a photography-based social media platform. BeReal encourages users to snap a photo once a day, at a random time, to share an “authentic version” of themselves with their followers. With this integration, BeReal users will be able to add their current Spotify listening activities to their posts, enabling them to share their music tastes more seamlessly. This new feature promises to bring more diversity to BeReal users’ posts and offer a more engaging experience.
There are two ways to to integrate your Spotify and BeReal accounts. The first option is to click on the music icon displayed before sharing a BeReal post. The second option is to navigate to your settings within the BeReal app and select “music” to complete the setup process. BeReal users can easily follow these prompts to connect their Spotify account and share their current listening activities with their friends.
After successfully linking your Spotify and BeReal accounts, the app automatically detects the song or podcast you’re currently playing on Spotify when you capture a BeReal. The cover art of the audio you’re sharing from Spotify will be displayed at the bottom of your camera lens in BeReal, allowing others to listen to a preview of what you’re sharing. This integration takes the BeReal experience to another level by adding a dynamic soundtrack to your photos, enabling you to express your personality and mood beyond just the visual aspect.
According to a blog post by the company, “Spotify was built for moments of everyday inspiration, discovery, and interactivity. It also creates the playlist for your everyday life. BeReal is designed to capture and share authentic moments in your daily life with your closest friends. Combining audio from Spotify with BeReal adds another layer of authentic personalization and connection to your BeReal.”
The BeReal and Spotify integration is currently available to users on both Android and iOS platforms in several markets, including the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and Brazil. The company plans to expand this integration into more countries shortly to help bring a new level of socialization and increased engagement to users around the world.
Despite the potential benefits of integrating Spotify with BeReal, the success of this collaboration remains unclear. According to recent reports, the number of daily users on BeReal has decreased by 61% from its highest point, falling from 15 million in October to less than six million in March.
BeReal’s popularity skyrocketed last year when it introduced an innovative approach to social media, providing users with a more authentic photo feed compared to the curated aesthetic associated with Instagram. The app’s success had various social media platforms, including Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok, racing to replicate its functionality and capitalize on the trend.
