Pianist-composer Belle Chen has released an ambient remix of her track 'And It Rains' by Circassian-Turkish producer Sinemis (aka Sine Buyuka).
Sinemis combines the ancestral Sufi music of her homeland with techno-inflected ambient beats on the remix.
Chen says: "The original tune ‘And It Rains’ was inspired by the sound of raindrops on the forest canopy. Sinemis has taken key layers from the original track and created a beautifully luring and mysterious space for the listeners to fall into".
Sinemis's rework is the first of seven tracks from Chen's upcoming seven-track EP, 'Ravel In The Forest: Meditative Reworks', out 11th October.
Chen's original ‘Ravel In The Forest’ album took a whimsical journey into the forest, a sonic celebration of all the bountiful textures and colours of the flora and fauna found there. Chen hoped for the record to serve as an space for playfulness, creativity and vulnerability for listeners.
The meditative rework EP presents a parallel space for listeners to decompress, reflect, breathe, and feel. Five producers bring their unique artistic approaches, creating an invitation to tune into oneself.
Belle Chen is due to perform ‘Ravel In The Forest’ with a string quartet from the award-winning Engines Orchestra Strings for the EFG London Jazz Festival at London’s EartH Theatre on 18th November 2024. The show will be presented in Hyperreal Live Immersive audio. Get tickets here.
