As festivals start to make their return, and COVID-19 restrictions start to lighten up, a recent survey has shown that 90% of the population is ready to party again. The UK is surely ready. Why? Because Festicket surveyed 140,000 people, and here’s what they had to say. Of the entire total surveyed population, 82% said they felt confident about attending two or more events this year. We’re seeing hefty lineups and the anticipation is definitely building.
In the past four months, that number raised to 90% wanting to attend events this year. Moreover, they’ve stated they would even attend international ones. What’s interesting is, the majority didn’t express anything about vaccinations. In fact, only 7.9% showed interest in that. The most apparent change the public wants is extra sanitation and hygiene measures implemented. Almost 60% of the population wants this essential function performed. What about a cashless system? Tomorrowland is doing it, and it seems like a good way to cleanly and safely purchase.
“It’s clear there has been a shift in perspective in the UK over the past month. Following the Prime Minister’s announcement in February, stories of 2021 events selling out have become common. [But] we wanted to dig a little deeper. Coupling customer opinion with ongoing event partner conversations puts us in a strong position to help the industry bounce back successfully. It’s important that the industry works within all government guidance available. [Listening] to your fans is essential and delivering events in the way they now demand is critical for success.”

However, I still have a couple of questions in mind about events resuming. Will you most likely return back to normal when events resume or will every cough, sneeze, and sniffle make you do a double-take? It seems that events have adapted to the past year of loss and are making innovative efforts to come back. Some being contactless entry and contactless ticketing–perhaps they’ll utilize some EDM drive-in procedure. Most people have stated that a cashless system would encourage them to attend. Masks may be mandated and possibly vaccines depending on the rate. What would you prefer?
