Just days ago we heard of the exit of Claude VonStroke from his Dirtybird Records along with the end of CampINN. But with that comes the birth of Barclay Crenshaw. He embarks on a pivotal transition in the new year. Introducing a headline tour ahead of the release of his much-anticipated album, Open Channel, set to release in spring.
Just recently the House maestro Claude VonStroke took to share with his fans a hiatus from his House moniker. He is shifting his focus to his birth-name project, Barclay Crenshaw, to bring out the burgeoning realms of Bass music. The 13-stop tour will showcase at landmark venues like Webster Hall, giving birth to a new musical era for Crenshaw. The tour is set to focus on the transition in Crenshaw’s career from his acclaimed House music roots to the dynamic dive into Bass music, Electronica and more.
Crenshaw is not wasting any time. The last few days with the exit from his house persona to introducing the birth-name project, also comes a new release. Crenshaw released his new track ‘Blue Mile‘, a collaboration with Of The Trees. The track features the vocals of UK artist Strategy. The song is a blend of experimental Bass/Trap and was first heard by fans at the iconic Red Rocks venue. Give it a listen!
We have all grooved to Claude VonStroke’s House music. But let’s get to know Barclay Crenshaw better. Fans were first introduced to the Barclay Crenshaw alias at the Dirtybird Campout. He is embarking on a musical journey across avante-garde Bass, Electronica, Hip-Hop, and the list goes on. He released his self-titled album back in 2017. Fans are excited to see how his sound has evolved since then. We are looking forward to the reflection on his early musical influences, and how he will keep up with the dynamic Electronica music today.
Barclay’s creative journey in producing Open Channel spans over 80 days and will be reflecting and redefining his artistic identity. Crenshaw is hoping to form a new community. Continuing to keep the grassroots energy from his camping festivals, just a change in the musical direction. His goal is to build a space for his fans to connect, and explore the constantly changing electronic music world. This wholesome approach leads to the name of his forthcoming album Open Channel.
The tour kickstarts in New York at Webster Hall on March 8th and ends on the 13th stop in Austin at The Concourse Project on May 4th 2024. See the full tour venues here.
