Today Danish house and techno producer Kölsch has returned to Kompakt with his electrifying new single, ‘An Amazing.’ Setting the tone for his upcoming album, I Talk To Water, set to be released October 27th, ‘An Amazing’ features an uptempo groove decorated with sublime synth melodies and a delicate vocal line repeating the simple yet powerful central hook: ‘you’re an amazing.’
Marking Kölsch’s fifth album for Kompakt, I Talk To Water will explore themes of family and history, and the process of turning grief into comfort. The album is inspired by the passing of Kölsch’s father, Patrick Reilly, in 2003. ‘Grape,’ ‘Tell Me,’ and ‘It Ends Where It Began,’ all use recordings of Kölsch’s father, who was a touring musician during the 60s and 70s. I Talk To Water was pieced together during the pandemic while Kölsch reflected on his father’s passing, and how he could memorialize such a significant figure in his life. The recordings used in the project provided a gateway for Kölsch, to unite both the past and present in a meaningful way, allowing him to create his most personal body of work yet.
