We knew this was coming, but Ultra Music Festival decided to do a Saturday morning news dump to break the news. A few weeks after Billboard revealed that Ultra 2021 would indeed be canceled, Ultra finally got around to making its own official announcement.
Ultra sent an email directly to ticket buyers this morning. We received ours before 9am EST. In it, Ultra announces that 2021 can’t move forward and reveals that Ultra 2022 will take place on March 25, 26, 27 2022.
In a move that will surely ignite fury on the part of Ultra ticket buyers once again, Ultra is not offering ticket refunds. Instead, Ultra is offering a number of “perks” that sound similar to what was offered last year.
As you can see, Ultra is offering a new “Premium General Admission” upgrade to all GA ticket holders. There’s a dedicated entrance, air-conditioned bathrooms, and a special lounge. They’re also offering a merch discount code and entrance 1 hour early to see a special headliner set. Lastly, you’ll get a free ticket to an Ultra Worldwide event valid through December 31, 2022. They’re also throwing in a chance to win a lifetime pass and early ticket sale access in case you want to buy more tickets (lol).
From there, there’s a link to a pretty ironclad contract you must confirm and select 2022 or 2023 for your exchange. What you won’t get, though, is a refund. Ultra says that if you do not “exchange, upgrade, and elect the benefits offered” your 2020 ticket(s) will automatically be honored at Ultra 2022. After Ultra took a ton of heat and drew a class-action lawsuit over this in 2021, we can only imagine how fans will react to this.
