2020 Beatport Review Crowns Tech House As The Most Popular Genre

The music analysis and research platform Viberate recently published a report on the trends of Beatport in 2020. Some data from the 2020 Beatport Review showed what we expected while others surprise us.

2020 is seen as a period of an eruption in which focuses shifted, partly making the purchase of digital music pivotal. This evidently set the stage for that income to become the main source for many producers worldwide. In July, Beatport CEO Robb McDaniels confirmed that they had already seen a 10% to 20% increase in the number of releases, and expect the trend to continue well into 2021.

Beatport through the year hosted several live streams to support electronic musicians around the world. One of those events raised more than $180,000 in 34 hours. With this background, we see that it was an incredible year for the portal, and they’ve highlighted the trends in electronic music based on the statistics gathered.

A World Full of Tech House

Tech house tracks remain the most popular on the Beatport Top 100 list, followed by house, melodic house & techno, then techno (Peak Time / Driving). You can see the full list below.
