London-based DJ, producer, and singer Memphis LK is back with a bold new EP that dives into grittier, high-energy sounds. Teaming up with fellow Aussie talents DJ BORING and Willaris. K, the five-track release is packed with club-ready anthems that blend early 2000s trance, jungle, breaks, and techno.

Since relocating from Melbourne, Memphis LK has been making waves across the UK club scene, performing at iconic venues and festivals like The Cause and Field Day. Her 'Say' EP, released earlier this month captures the raw, propulsive energy of her evolving artistry in the dance space.

To celebrate their collaboration, Memphis LK and DJ BORING have selected five iconic tracks each to get your weekend party started...

Memphis LK

"No, this was actually so hard choosing only 5 tracks!!! 2000s dance music is where so many of my influences come from, it's what I grew up listening to, it's the music I play when I DJ, and that warm, euphoric emotion I feel like I'm always subconsciously referencing that infiltrates through when I make music," Memphis LK shares.

1. Bomfunk MC’s - Freestyler

"To this day there is still no other song I've ever heard that sounds anything like 'Freestyler'. It's completely on another level. Like sorry, you're giving us slide guitar, a dreamy arpeggiator, hype vocals, a breakbeat AND scratching??? We are not worthy."

2. DJ Sammy - Heaven

"Emotional, euphoric, trance pop perfection. When I realise this was the type of shit, I was on as a kid, the music I make today makes so much sense, I feel like the influence is so obvious. Grateful for music like this!! The spoken "we're in heaven" scratches my brain."

3. Push - Strange World

"Early 2000s trance is elite and this is easily one of the best trance tracks ever IMO. I love the long, dark evolution of the track, it feels like an otherworldly journey. And I think it's so cool how this song does so much with just a few notes."

4. Burial - Archangel

"Burial is one of my favourite artists of all time and it was this album that inspired me to want to learn how to produce my own music. I love the way this song so perfectly balances that dark melancholic feeling with warm hopeful emotion. I also love the genius way he sampled "one wish" by Ray J and video game sound effects, he is so beast for that."

5. Sophie Ellis Bextor - Murder On The Dancefloor

"This song is self-explanatory, it's unmatched. Like, it's literally perfect, every little detail in the production and vocals is so perfectly placed and well done. A masterclass."

DJ BORING

"Every track that I've selected is a track I have played when I started to DJ in 2007. All these tracks have a special place in my heart, and sometimes my sets."

1. Hard Fi - Hard To Beat (Axwell Remix)

"I was such a big fan of ‘Hard To Beat’ by Hard Fi when it came out. The definition of British indie dance music. I didn’t know it was possible to make a version of this song and not ruin its beauty. Perfect build up, perfect choice of vocal chopping. 10/10."

2. Boys Noize - Starter

"I first saw Boys Noize in 2010 at the Billboards in Naarm/Melbourne. Alex Rhida has always been a huge inspiration from then to even now. The way he used such harsh noises but made them so beautiful is a true art form. This track was a staple in my sets back in 2009 when it came out. "

3. We Are Rockstars - Does It Offend You, Yeah?

"As an indie kid loving electronic music in the mid-2000s, ‘Does It Offend You, Yeah?’ was a perfect balance of everything you needed from an indie song and a hard electronic track. If the Rapture and Mr. Oizo/Surkin had a baby, it would be this."

4. Heidi, Riton - Vejer (Jesse Rose Remix)

"Early groovy blip blop house music. Perfect track to play out from 2008 all the way though to now. Riton has never missed, but this remix from Jesse Rose is an incredibly beautiful version of their track. The movement, the bounce, it’s just sensational."

5. Guru Josh Project - Infinity 2008 (Klaas Vocal Edit)

"When it comes to a track that defines my youth, ‘Infinity’ is one of them. I remember being 18 in Melbourne at Roxanne’s parlour and hearing someone playing it and just losing my mind to it. I can’t say anything else but pure perfection from this track. 20/10."
